We are a National Ski Patrol Volunteer organization providing first responder service for the Ski Sawmill Ski Area in north central Pennsylvania.

The Ski Sawmill Ski Patrol is in the Eastern Division, Western Appalachian Region of the National Ski Patrol.

Description from the NSP Education MTR page:
 
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to travel and work in reasonable safety and comfort in the outdoor environment, and to be an asset to a search and/or rescue team, including possible overnight operations.
Field practice includes practice in navigation, travel, survival, basic search and/or rescue exercises, and an overnight campout.

Participants should expect to sleep outside, so should bring tent, cold weather sleeping bag, food for dinner and breakfast.  Lunch will be provided by the patrol.  Clothing and gear appropriate for late October weather should be worn.

Cost: $40.00 for NSP members, $47.50 for Non-NSP members
 
Completion of MTR 1 counts as a Senior elective.  
 
This course is not limited to current NSP members, those successfully completing the course will receive a certificate of completion and credential from the NSP.

Bob Zaccaria succumbs to illness -Posted: Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Dr. Bob Zaccaria, former patroller, lifetime member of NSP, Lycoming College professor, musician, member of numerous local boards and committees involved in sports, music, education and medicine passed away Sunday Jan 24.

Bob's presence will be missed by all who knew him.
